USB Redirector Technician Edition 1.9.7

USB Redirector Technician Edition 1.9.7

USB Redirector is a software tool that allows you to redirect USB devices to the network. This means that you can use a connected USB device from one computer to another over a local network or the Internet. It is commonly used in situations where you need to access USB devices remotely, such as accessing a printer or USB dongle from a different location. This can be useful in environments where physical access to USB ports is limited or where sharing a USB device between multiple computers is necessary.

The product must be installed on the technician’s computer. It comes with a free customer module that can be distributed to your customers. The customer module helps people to redirect their USB devices to the technician for servicing. It has a simple intuitive interface and does not require installation.

USB Redirector typically offers a range of features to facilitate the redirection of USB devices over a network. Here are some common features you might find in USB Redirector software:

  1. Device Sharing: USB Redirector allows multiple computers to share access to USB devices simultaneously. This can include printers, scanners, webcams, USB storage devices, dongles, and more.
  2. Network Connectivity: It enables USB devices to be accessed over a local area network (LAN) or the internet, allowing remote access to devices located on different machines or in different locations.
  3. Cross-Platform Compatibility: USB Redirector software is often compatible with various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux, allowing for broader device support and interoperability.
  4. Security: Many USB Redirector solutions offer encryption and authentication features to secure the data transmitted between the client and server, ensuring privacy and preventing unauthorised access.
  5. Flexibility: Users can typically choose which USB devices to redirect and which computers on the network can access them, providing flexibility and control over device usage.
  6. Virtualization Support: Some USB Redirector software integrates with virtualization platforms, allowing USB devices connected to virtual machines to be redirected to remote clients.
  7. Session Management: It may include features for managing and monitoring active USB device redirection sessions, such as session logging, remote session termination, and session priority settings.
  8. Ease of Use: User-friendly interfaces and setup wizards make it easy to configure and deploy USB redirection solutions, even for users with limited technical expertise.
  9. Performance Optimization: USB Redirector software often includes optimizations to minimise latency and maximise data transfer speeds, ensuring a seamless user experience even over remote connections.
  10. Customization: Advanced users may have options for customising settings related to device redirection, network configurations, security protocols, and more.

These are just some of the features commonly found in USB Redirector software. The specific features and capabilities may vary depending on the software provider and the version of the product

Redirecting Devices over Internet

If you use USB Redirector Technician Edition to provide services over the Internet, then customers will have to enter your public IP address into the Customer Module (see Step 3 above). You can find this address by opening the site from your computer.

Additionally, your router may require setting up a port forwarding. This will allow connections from the Internet to pass through to your computer, as all routers block them by default.

USB Redirector Technician Edition would normally do the port forwarding automatically, but sometimes it is not possible due to a lack of UPnP support in a router or other reasons. In this case port forwarding should be set up manually. This procedure is different for each router model, so please refer to the router manual or Google for instructions on how to do it. Basically, you need to forward connections coming at TCP port number 32038 to the same TCP port number on your computer. On some routers, port forwarding can be referred to as Virtual Server or NAT (Network Address Translation)

Please note that USB redirection over the Internet requires a good cable Internet connection. 3G or public hotspots usually do not provide good enough connection. Moreover, public hotspots and many 3G/4G connections are very limited in what they can do with them and will not allow port forwarding.

USB Redirector Technician Edition v1 is licensed per technician PC. A separate license is required for each technician’s computer where the program will be installed.
